About
Ashton Atlas

I graduated from West Plains High School in 2017, earning both by high school diploma and my Associate of Arts Degree from Missouri State University - West Plains. I went on to earn my Bachelor of Science from Missouri State University - Springfield, where I triple majored in Psychology, Criminology, and Professional Writing. I am currently continuing my education through Missouri State University - Springfield, where I am pursuing my Master of Arts in History, as well as a Master of Science in Criminal Justice.

My Career has focused on public service and community safety including roles as a Children’s Division investigator, university instructor, behavioral health professional, substance use disorder professional, and currently as a Probation & Parole Officer.

These experiences have given me a deep understanding of the challenges facing many local families and students, and has shaped how I view education, leadership, and public service.

Lifting Our Schools Higher

If elected to the school board, my focus will be to lift our schools higher by advocating for our underprivileged students and those who need additional support, and ensuring our district implements evidenced-based policies which have achievable standards and measurable outcomes.

Specifically, I believe three priorities are essential for strengthening student success:

1. Structured Literacy & Early Screening Programs

2. Student Support & Mental Health Programs

3. Career & Technical Education Programs

Compassionate Leadership

Compassionate leadership is the foundation of this campaign. It means recognizing that every student, family, and educator brings their own experiences, challenges, and strengths into our schools. Effective leadership requires listening, understanding different perspectives, and making decisions with empathy and respect.

When leaders approach challenges with compassion, they are better equipped to support students who may be struggling, families navigating difficult circumstances, and educators working hard to serve our community.

Compassionate leadership is not about lowering expectations—it is about ensuring that every student has the support and opportunity they need to succeed. By leading with empathy, accountability, transparency, and a commitment to fairness, we can build a school system where students feel supported, educators feel valued, and families feels confident that their voices are heard.
